Assistive technology & Adaptive Equipment

In Fall of 2016 a few students, who didn't want to wait until their senior year to get involved, founded a club focused on assistive technology and adaptive equipment.

  • Description: Blurring the lines between disability and ability, adaptive equipment is what enables someone who is blind to go rock climbing, paraplegics to to skiing, or an amputee to ride a bike. Helping people overcome obstacles through the design and build of equipment, as well as working to develop relationships that will make us better engineers is our goal. We focus mainly on completing projects, which can be presented to individuals or to adaptive sports providers, but also work toward building better relationships with the community of adaptive sports, promoting the engineering of Mines, as well as opportunities to better understand and work with those who we serve.
